One Trunk Theatre’s Knock Knock Ginger is a live, socially distant, outdoor theatre series. The performances happen right on your front lawn while you watch through your window! The Snowman, the animated holiday favourite about a little boy who goes on a magical journey with his snowman, and The Hockey Sweater, the iconic Canadian Roch Carrier story about a boy forced to wear a Toronto Maple Leafs sweater in his hockey-mad Quebec town, both come to life in this perfect winter show with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra on December 5. MTYP’s Midwinter Mosey (pictured) revisits three of MTYP’s best-loved holiday shows while audience members embark on a wintry walk. You and your loved ones will experience some of the most magical moments from A Charlie Brown Double Bill, The House at Pooh Corner, and A Year with Frog and Toad, all wrapped up in one heart-warming show. Scarves, toques, and mittens are encouraged as you and your loved ones promenade to different stations around MTYP’s facility and walk outdoors together through a winter wonderland. In Prairie Theatre Exchange production The War Being Waged (pictured), on now until November 21, an Indigenous mother becomes an activist while her brother becomes a soldier. A grandmother raises a child with love, in community. A granddaughter full of turmoil finds her voice. Three generations of Indigenous women are woven into this new work by Winnipeg-based theatre artist Darla Contois. And three performance genres tell their story – monologue, poetry with video and movement, and contemporary dance – all tied together by the playwright’s story and an all-encompassing set design that has built a world for all three to live inside. Currently streaming digitally through Manitoba Theatre for Young People until November 19, The Snail and the Whale is about a tiny sea snail who hitches a life on the tail of a great big, grey-blue humpback whale in order to see the world. When the whale gets beached, how will the snail save him? Join an adventurous young girl and her seafaring father as they reimagine the Julia Donaldson story of one crustacean’s incredible trip around the world, brought vividly to life with music, storytelling and loads of laughs. Meraki Theatre Productions is putting on their first ever free Mental Health Arts Week For Youth, called Stronger Together, that combines mental health resources and strategies with daily arts programming. Stronger Together takes place October 3-9 and is offered in partnership with the Mood Disorders Association of Manitoba.

The week’s programming includes days devoted to musical theatre, mindfulness, visual art, contemporary dance, songwriting, French theatre, and improv. Learn more and register.
