Developed by the Betty Brinn Children’s Museum and on display for the first time in Canada, this educational travelling exhibition illustrates science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) concepts through a one-of-a-kind visitor experience that lets kids Dream It!… Build It!… and Ride It!

Gather a group of friends and guess the top answers to “Survey Says” in this friendly, game show-style competition. With fun challenges, a cash bar, and of course, a chance to play in the Children’s Museum’s galleries after dark, everyone will have a chance to tap into their inner child at this event. EXPLORE-ABILITIES: A Sensory-Friendly Museum Event

Introducing EXPLORE-ABILITIES – a new sensory-friendly museum experience designed for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and sensory processing differences to have fun and enjoy interactive, hands-on learning in a safe and accessible facility!
Developed in conjunction with experts from the Autism Learning Centre, Autism Manitoba, and On The Spectrum Therapy Services, this exclusive event features:
- Light and sound reductions in museum galleries
- Extra visual signage for safety
- A less crowded environment
- Designated quiet zones apart from the galleries
- Specialized equipment rentals (i.e., sunglasses and ear defenders) available upon request
- Specially trained staff to complement your museum experience
Note: The Children’s Museum opens to the general public at 9:30AM. Visitors are welcome to stay and play after this time, however lights, sounds, signage, and other Explore-Abilities elements/accommodations will return to regular operating levels at 9:30AM.

Even the smallest music fan will break out in song on Sunday, October 5 when we host Mini BreakOut West, a showcase of performances by nominees of this year’s Western Canada Music Awards! Catch some of the top children’s acts of the year perform live in concert including Lulu et le Matou, Madame Diva, Norman Foote, Rattle and Strum, and Seanster and the Monsters – with a special guest appearance by Fred Penner, then rock the day away exploring our galleries and building your own instruments.
Comedian Matt Falk and magician Chris Funk the Wonderist have fun at the Children’s Museum. See them get hyped on YouTube here – or better yet, catch them live with Big Daddy Tazz on Friday, September 12 at #Serious(ly)Adult – Comedy Night!
To celebrate the opening of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, the Children’s Museum is participating in RightsFest – a two-day event featuring free public entertainment – including music, dance, art, and children’s programs. Join us onsite at the Children’s Museum on September 20 and 21 from 11:00AM – 2:00PM for free outdoor human rights-themed programming and activities, then stay to explore other participating partner events at The Forks all day long!
