National Indigenous Peoples Day 2023

Join us on the Summer Solstice, June 21, 2023 from 11:00AM – 3:00PM as we celebrate Indigenous Peoples’ Day.

This is a day to learn more about the history and diversity of Indigenous culture. Celebrate the beauty of Indigenous culture with us by creating traditional artwork, experiencing Indigenous performances, and enjoying some tasty bannock and jam from Feast Café Bistro Catering (while supplies last)!

Plus, help us build a teepee in Time Squared and crawl inside for extra special story times throughout the day.


Event Schedule

  • 11:00AM & 1:00PM – Drumming and Hoop Dancing Workshop led by Elder Barb Nepinak
  • 12:00PM – 3:00PM – Storytelling and Visual Arts Workshop led by Graffiti Art Programming and Elder Barb Nepinak
  • 12:00PM & 2:00PM – Story Time
  • 12:00PM – Bannock & Jam Served

The Children’s Museum is proud to offer complimentary general admission to Indigenous Peoples effective June 21, 2023, which corresponds with Indigenous Peoples Day.

The Children’s Museum is located on Treaty 1 Territory, the traditional lands of the Anishinaabe (Ojibwe), Ininew (Cree), Oji-Cree, Dene, and Dakota, and the Birthplace of the Métis Nation and the Heart of the Métis Nation Homeland.

As a member of Winnipeg’s Indigenous Accord, the Children’s Museum moves forward in mutually respectful partnerships.

Complimentary general admission* is available to all Indigenous Peoples, including First Nations, Inuit, and Métis by notifying an Admissions Attendant at time of purchase.
