National Day For Truth & Reconciliation
September 30
Join us in our commitment to Truth & Reconciliation as we learn and reflect about the legacy of residential schools in Canada.
Programming and activities run from 11:00AM – 3:00PM and FREE** general admission will be available all day long.
Guests of all ages are encouraged to wear an orange shirt to help raise awareness of the impacts of residential schools and in remembrance – every child matters.
(*)Please Note: The Children’s Museum reserves the right to control entry in accordance with occupancy and general admission policies. Free general admission will be available on a first-come, first-served basis up to a maximum capacity of 800 people for this event.

- Alice RL from Forum Art Centre will help us create a collaborative nature mural entitled Growing Together (11:00AM – 3:00PM)
- Guest speakers, including:
- Author David Robertson (11:00AM – 11:30AM & 1:00PM – 1:30PM)
- Treaty Relations Commission of Manitoba’s Speakers Bureau Member Ivana Yellowback (12:30PM – 1:00PM & 1:30PM – 2:00PM)
- Métis educator Teresa Byrne will lead a Michif language workshop and Métis paper vest craft (11:00AM – 3:00PM)
- Explore the Manitoba Museum’s Inuit artifact display table (11:00AM – 3:00PM)
- Pop by the Treaty Relations Commission of Manitoba‘s Information Booth (11:00AM – 3:00PM)
- Craft a take-home decorative heart for a Heart Garden, with each heart representing the memory of a child lost to the residential school system. (11:00AM – 3:00PM)
