Welcome Centre
The entrance, including the admissions area, SHOP (the museum’s own toy store) and coat and lunchroom facility, will be redeveloped. This redevelopment will increase safety and security, and will improve access to the Manitoba Children’s Museum.
Making our facility secure is important to our visitors. This new entrance will serve to enhance access, as caregivers know that the Manitoba Children’s Museum not only provides opportunities for children to learn through play, but does so in a facility where the risk related to physical safety and security has been deliberately minimized.
Arts & Exhibition Centre
The new Arts & Exhibition Centre will provide a professional venue specially designed for artistic presentation for and by children. It will also provide an updated facility for the display of children’s exhibitions in a venue specifically geared for children. It will offer flexible configuration through the use of collapsible seating and walls to support travelling exhibits and a wide range of programs, workshops and performances.
The Arts & Exhibition Centre will be made up of two areas:
- The Arts and Exhibition Hall
- The Education and Workshop Rooms
The Arts and Exhibition Hall will have comfortable seating, professional technology including artistic staging suitable for both children and adults, as well as sound and lighting equipment that will be conducive to full audience participation.
The Education and Workshop Rooms will support school children as they interact and experience the arts in an environment designed specifically for them. These rooms can be reconfigured into different sized rooms, and will include state-of-the-art sound and lighting requirements for travelling exhibits.
Twelve New Galleries
As a result of our Capital Campaign, we’ll be doubling our number of galleries, going from the six galleries we have right now to twelve brand new and exciting galleries!
These twelve new galleries will present a world of possibilities for children and caregivers who will enjoy the museum each year. The latest innovations in education come together with creative environments to provide a powerful learning experience that entertains as it educates.
