Emily and her Father, Vance, had their very first daddy and daughter day out together last summer, they went to the children’s museum for the afternoon. Emily had such a wonderful time (and so did her dad
) She has been in love with trains ever since, she continues to talk about the museum in her creative play at home and often asks to go “to the museum at the forks.” Her daddy will cherish his memory with her there. We are sad to hear of the closure as we will miss having the chance to go but are excited that there will be new and exciting changes to the museum.

Our little conductor! Daryn loved sitting up in the train, pushing buttons, pulling levers, and calling “All aboard!”

Our daughter, 21, and our son, 10, are both DEVASTATED that the giant oak tree won’t be at the Children’s Museum after the renovation. Lots of time spent reminiscing about that tree. I certainly remember one of the first times we visited the museum and my daughter got scared in the tree, and I had to go in and help her to get through it !

My daughter’s favorite memory at the Children’s Museum is when I attended a series of workshops at the Museum on Positive Parenting and she was taken care of by a Museum Staff Member. It was after regular hours so the museum was closed to the public and she and a few other kids basically had the entire museum to themselves. She talks about it all the time and would like me to attend another workshop!

The kids always enjoyed the exhibits and the hands on learning they brought to them. We especially enjoyed the kids learning safe driving practices in the Yellow VW Bug! This place has been a huge part of our kids childhood. We sure will miss the tree!!

When my children did their own broadcasting…plus when my 2-year-old saw it for the first time and was so excited to see everything.

We have always loved visiting the Children’s Museum! So much fun to be had! I remember myself as a child going to the Children’s Museum when it was downtown and loving it too. So thankful for being able to share that with my children now. Sad that it’s closing for renovations of course, but understandable, and quite excited to see what’s to come!

My children have always loved the big tree slide, and being able to go around and play in the part beside it!

I love the tree slide and train best of all, but the singers and storytellers that were there were awesome too!

My cousin and his family were coming to visit Winnipeg for the first time. Our children had never met. I chose the Children’s Museum for our first activity together, and it was wonderful to watch them get to know each other in such a fun and playful environment! We will treasure these memories forever!

Our first visit to the museum was a memorable one. It was our first Christmas here since migrating to Canada. Our family attended the Circle of Hearts Christmas party where one of my sons is a member. We were able to enjoy good food, meet new friends, have fun and learn at the exhibits and they get to meet Santa for the first time and have our picture taken with him. It really was a very nice experience that when we were given a membership (thanks to my son’s therapists) we took time to go out there whenever our schedule permits us. My 5 year old usually looks forward to “riding the train” that’s why it is always our first stop before he proceeds to the tractor. We play the xylophone for our 3 year old for he loves music. And now that I have a 2 month old son, and the museum will be renovating, we’re excited and looking forward to see what will capture his fancy once we visit the museum again.

I just love going on the train. I like driving the train running down the aisle of the train and climbing the bunks.

This is Teanna playing with the lego blocks on her first visit to the museum. She was 1 1/2 years old! She cannot wait until the new museum is finished so she can share her wonderful experience with her baby brother!

Kara (7), Kayley (5) and Ryan (3) have been enjoying the Children’s Museum since they were all toddlers. Every year we receive a family membership as a Christmas gift from Aunty Kathy & Uncle Ron and we look forward to another year of fun. From playing in the exhibits, the Halloween Howl, Breakfast with Santa, Old Eaton’s Village, birthday parties and the many temporary exhibits always attract us month after month. Thanks for all the memories and we look forward to creating new ones!

This was our first trip to the Children’s Museum with our 3 year old daughter. She can be a little shy in crowds, so we weren’t sure how it would go over but within 3 minutes she was having the time of her life! We spent the entire afternoon there, and she didn’t stop smiling once. Thank you for the wonderful opportunity!

My baby niece, during her first ever visit to the children’s museum driving the car that is no longer there
She loved it and did not want to get out of it, and she kept going back to the car the whole time we were there.

I have a picture from the first time I ever brought my niece to the children’s museum. She loves the tree slide and she just wanted to play in that area all day. I have a picture of her going down the slide with a lady that was there with a birthday party, just seeing my niece’s smile shows me that the children’s museum is a great place for children to come and imagine, play, and enjoy themselves.

What a great place for fieldtrips! I have enjoyed taking many different groups of kids of all ages to the Manitoba Children’s Museum. It’s a place where kids can be set free to explore, learn, and have fun. Each exhibit has a component to interest any type of learner. The staff is welcoming, enthusiastic, and makes kids experiences even richer. My favourite memory takes place in the yellow Volkswagon Beetle. Some kids decided t see how many of them could fit inside. I think there were about 20 when it reached capacity. Much laughter, smiles, and, don’t forget, spatial learning fills this memory. Thanks Manitoba Children’s Museum!

The Children’s Museum always provides a fun adventure for us, especially on a rainy day! The kids enjoy dressing up, driving the old car and serving each other snacks on the train!

I remember the museum as a kid and am so excited to share the memories with my own kids now. My favorite moment last time was the slotted mirror. My children and I looked at each other through the mirrors and just laughed so heartily for several minutes.

We’ve been bringing my two children to the MCM for a couple of years now and they just LOVE visiting!! By far, their favorite exhibit to visit and play (usually for a LONG time) is the giant oak tree. They just never get enough of exploring and sliding! The picture I’ve chosen is my daughter on one of her major forays up the tree.
