Help us offer creative learning opportunities to children!

The Free Access Program brings children from the inner city to the Manitoba Children’s Museum for school visits, day camps, holiday parties and after-school clubs FREE OF CHARGE!

For the entire month of November, you can support the Manitoba Children’s Museum’s Free Access Program by donating $2.00 or more when you visit the museum.

Pssssst…I have some special news to share!

Catch me and my friend Brienne Santos (our Program Coordinator) on CityTV’s Breakfast Television tomorrow morning (Wednesday, October 21st) at 8:45AM.

We’ll be there to talk to Jon Ljungberg about our Halloween Howl event that’s happening this Friday and Saturday night from 6-9PM.

ChooChoo’s Blog: Canada Post Letter Writing to Santa Campaign Kick Off

On Thursday, November 12th the Manitoba Children’s Museum will be partnering with Canada Post to host close to 90 children from Dufferin and Pinkham Schools at the museum to kick-off the 2009 Canada Post Letter Writing to Santa Campaign and to preview Eaton’s Santa’s Village.

After an introduction by Chief Postal Elf Clare Mills, these students will be able to meet special guests Santa & Mrs. Claus, to write their holiday letters, and to explore Santa’s Village.

Eaton’s Santa’s Village officially opens to the public on Saturday, November 14th, and visitors can drop off their holiday letters to Santa at the special Canada Post North Pole mailbox located at the museum throughout the holiday season.

Grab your treasure map and join us as we travel back in time on the Ancient Egypt Express and explore another time and place at the 14th Annual Halloween Howl sponsored by the Great-West Life Assurance Company! Follow the clues and uncover the mysteries of the ancients as you search for the Mummy’s Treasure!

Pow Wow 101: Teaser Performance

Manito Ahbee LogoOn October 10 from 11:00AM to 3:00PM, join us for free Pow Wow 101 teaser performances and activities from the Manito Ahbee Festival!

Sample activities include:

  • Pow Wow demonstration with Coco Ray Stevenson
  • Hoop Dance demonstration with Jackson Beardy
  • Children jiggers will perform and teach other children to jig
  • Story time with Mary Black, who will read from The Seven Teachings book
  • Arts and Crafts with Blaine Harris, who will teach children how to make petroforms
